Place Attachment in the Riverfront Public Space Case of Malaysia

Many cities in Malaysia established their first development on the banks of river. Urbanization phenomenon and technological advances then cause these riverfront areas developed changed gradually. Progressively, inappropriate physical changes at environment can reduce usage meaning place together with level attachment. The role appearances related to activities become famous issues urban design discourses as an effort establish identity place; nevertheless, research measure attachment public space is rarely done. This identify its contributed components focus pedestrian area, spaces which are favoured Malaysia. Mixed-method approaches implemented this study by developing a framework indicate elements that affect user. Surveys interviews carried out two promenade Kuching Malacca, there Sarawak Malacca promenade. 330 respondents involved questionnaire while 26 people were interviewed. Triangulation method used analyse data results achieved based objective research. found some factors affected user's attachment, namely: familiarity place, length engagement, personal background role.
